What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers, comprised of hyaluronic acid, can be used in certain areas of the face to improve appearance of existing anatomy, as well as rejuvenation in areas of the face that are decreasing with age.
What can dermal fillers be used to treat?
Areas that can be treated with dermal fillers include the cheeks, chin, jaw, nose, eyes, forehead, lips, neck, and temples. Here at The Ilkley Skin Clinic, we pride ourselves on thorough and bespoke patient consultations that will include a full skin assessment, and a treatment plan created to address your personal concerns and needs.
Are dermal fillers safe?
All dermal fillers used at our Ilkley clinic are of exceptional quality and have the highest safety rating of all fillers on the market. Given we are a Dr-led clinic, we are constantly researching and reviewing new products and techniques, to ensure we bring leading treatments to you, in a safe and comfortable environment.
As part of your consultation, you will receive a thorough explanation of what the treatment process will involve, the type of results that can be expected, and what the ensuing healing process will be.
How long do dermal fillers last?
When delivered in a safe, clinical environment, like at the Ilkley Skin Clinic, facial rejuvenation with dermal fillers can vary in longevity, with most results lasting between 12-18 months.
Of course, you can also arrange touch-up filler treatment to maintain your desired appearance – just speak with your clinician and they’ll be more than happy to offer advice around when you should expect to return for follow-up treatment.
How long does it take for dermal fillers to settle?
Many facial fillers, with the exception of lip filler, involve very little downtime, and most people are able to go about their daily life without noticeable swelling. However, if you’ve any questions or concerns, you’ll be able to raise these in your initial consultation.
How much are injectable fillers?
The cost of dermal filler varies, depending on your chosen treatment. As standard, though, your Ilkley Skin Clinic journey will begin with an injectables consultation, which is free if you undertake treatment on the same day (£50 if your follow-up treatment is arranged for a later point). Following this, treatments will be priced as:
Treatment | Cost |
Tear troughs | £400 |
Non-surgical rhinoplasty | £450 |
Facial dermal filler* | £350 |
Lip filler | £350 |
Hyaluronidase (dissolve) | £150 |
*Additional fillers completed in the same sitting are further discounted.

Dermal filler FAQs
We’ve introduced dermal fillers, including what they can be used to treat and the typical cost of treatment, but how about some other commonly asked questions?
What is a tear trough filler?
Tear trough filler is a type of dermal filler, that uses hyaluronic acid to rejuvenate the area underneath your eyes, by reducing the appearance of dark circles, smoothing out wrinkles, and improving the skin health.
Can you exercise after dermal fillers?
It’s often advised that you refrain from significant exercise for up to 48 hours after your dermal filler treatment. This is because activity gets your blood flowing, which can cause swelling and bruising around the treatment area.
Does non-surgical rhinoplasty make my nose appear bigger?
NSR is a treatment that involves carefully injecting filler, in small increments, into the nose. This achieves the illusion of a narrower/straighter nose with a more lifted tip, as well as disguising dorsal humps. Whilst the treatment involves adding filler, it actually makes the nose appear smaller.
What can dermal filler be used for?
Dermal fillers are injectable treatments used to restore volume, smooth wrinkles, and enhance facial contours. They are made with hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the skin. Filler can be used in various places to achieve different results. For instance, we can inject filler to project the chin, and provide more definition in the cheeks and jawline; or, it can be used in areas such as the temples to reduce hollowing, which can help rejuvenate and lift the tail of the brow.
What are the risks associated with filler?
Any injectable treatment is likely to cause swelling and potential bruising in the area. However, the biggest risk, but least likely, is a vascular occlusion. This occurs when filler is blocking a blood vessel, therefore impacting blood flow to the area. It is imperative to restore this as quickly as possible for safety reasons.
This is why injector choice is so important: Dr Ellie has an enormous depth of knowledge of anatomy, and practices safe injection techniques. She is a prescriber and therefore fully equipped to deal with any adverse incidents, should assistance be required.
